Growing Love

As I wrote in another blog the other day, I don’t know if it’s the season or what but I’m more in love with Wayne than ever. Which feels really nice considering earlier this year we were facing a marriage crisis. This morning I told him, “I don’t know how it’s possible that after 20 something years my love for you just keeps getting stronger, but it does.” I’ve sort of been thinking about that for the rest of the day so far. And since it’s so much on my mind, I figured that’d make something good to write about … Continue reading

The Law of Attraction, Cozies and Cats: An Interview with Author Jennie Bentley

Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about how I wish I knew any authors who featured cats in their work so I could interview them for the Pets Blog. Well, in yet another display of the Law of Attraction at work, wouldn’t you know my wish was granted this past Sunday when I was on a panel at the Southern Festival of books with Bente Gallagher who writes as Jennie Bentley? Her first mystery in her DIY Home Renovation Mystery series is called Fatal Fixer Upper and it’s due out November 4th. In the process of talking about her book … Continue reading

Understanding How the Law of Attraction Attracts Love or Loneliness

A few weeks back Woman’s World had an article about an over forty woman who thought her hopes of ever getting married were about washed up. I wished I had saved the article because I don’t exactly remember the whole story about how she finally found love, but it had to do with changing her thinking and using the law of attraction. Love Charms and the Law of Attraction I want to say a friend had bought something like a cake topper and held on to it with the unshakeable faith that it would help guide her true love to … Continue reading

My True Feelings About Trading Places

Lately I’ve been reading a lot of books with a similar theme: the Law of Attraction. I have to say I believe there’s something to it. For instance, I set out on a mission this year with the intention of making the most of marriage. Several months later I get an email inviting me to participate in a book blog tour. I was game, so I accepted. Two days later Trading Places: The Best Move You’ll Ever Make in Your Marriage arrives in my mailbox. That book provided a wealth of information and answered many questions I’ve had. Namely, what’s … Continue reading

Whatever Happened To…

Michael Conner Humphreys. Remember him? He was the child actor who played a young Forrest Gump on the big screen. Only, unlike many young stars that break into Hollywood before they can even legally drive, Humphreys didn’t stay long. He took gigs here and there, but when he was 18 he joined the Army and fought in an unpopular war. Today, Humphreys is less than a month shy of completing his enlistment and he says he is ready to head back to the silver screen. And he won’t have to wait long before he gets paid to do so. According … Continue reading

How to Learn More About Your Spouse: Reading Together

Among other things, October is National Book Month and Reading Group Month. I know we’re on the very last day of October, but an idea came to me the other day about how these month celebrations could enrich a marriage on any day of any month: start your own exclusive book club together, just the two of you! “In this book I’m reading…” I’m almost done reading The Secret, but I’ve found myself referring to it a lot lately. Two weekends ago I was driving and got a flat. I’ve worried about that happening ever since we moved here because … Continue reading

How a Positive Attitude Affects Your Relationship

Since October is Positive Attitude Month, I thought it’d be a good time to reflect on our attitudes and how they affect our marriages. Because they definitely have an impact. Mirror Effect In our household we live by the “you get what you give” motto. It’s basically the same principal as the Golden Rule: treat me how you expect me to treat you back. I’m currently reading The Secret in which this principle is emphasized time and again. I first came to know of it, though, in a different manner (what you think upon grows) courtesy of Dr. Wayne Dyer’s … Continue reading

The SECRET: Do We Attract Hardships With Our Negativity?

Certainly by now most of you have heard of the best-selling book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, which has been applauded on talk shows like Oprah, and is being praised by businesses, foundations, and societies all over the country. But in case you’re one of the few who has missed out, let me briefly enlighten you. The “secret” is the law of attraction, and the idea that we attract into our lives what we think about most. The book uses this premise to empower us, stating that we can have whatever we want, if we will only envision ourselves as … Continue reading
