School started two weeks ago here in our corner of the world. I don't know if it ever gets any easier, this letting your children grow. That is, after all, what motherhood is about--making yourself obsolete.

Does your child forget easily? Do you have to repeat instructions or remind your child on a regular basis? Many learning disabled kids have the symptom of poor memory. Daniel, our youngest, falls in this category.

Alright, I'm going to be brutally honest. Before I became a parent of a special needs child, people with disabilities made me feel uncomfortable. For example, if I saw a mentally handicapped person in an elevator, I might wait for the next one.
