1- If you are at the scene and give consent for your child to be taken by helicopter to a trauma hospital life saving medical procedures may start during flight or at the hospital before you arrive.

2- If parents are not at the scene and have not been notified of the accident or injury the state may assume custody and life saving procedures may be started before you are notified or consent.

When your children go on outings with Church, school or family and friends it's important to be sure they have emergency contact information one them at all times. Include:

  • Name, address and phone number.
  • Emergency contact phone numbers
  • Special Medical information.
  • Tuck Information in pockets, backpacks, under the lining of shoes and other not displayed way. Do Not write personal information any place on the outside of your child's clothing.

3- Your child may be seriously injured and in shock. Medical and flight crew may need to take care of the child during the flight and it may not be possible for parents to ride along. During flight life saving procedures may be started and continued in the trauma room at the hospital.

There are times under some circumstances when the helicopter is large enough and the situation is stable one or both parents may be able to ride along.

4- In many cases a critically injured child will be transported under any possible situation. If there is any sign of life natural or artificial children will be taken to a hospital if at all possible.

5-When parents arrive at the hospital it's best to entry the emergency room and let the intake desk know who you are, and your child's name and the fact the child was brought in by helicopter. After a moment parents and family will be taken to a special area or waiting room and the first few moments of a changed life and family begins.
